The Anella Olímpica, or Olympic Ring, is the monumental ensemble made up of the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, the Palau Sant Jordi and the Explanada de la Anella. It embodies the legacy of the 1992 Olympic Games, when Barcelona became the world capital of sport.

The Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium was built for the 1929 International Exhibition. It was refurbished for the 1992 Olympic Games and currently hosts large-scale sporting competitions and concerts.

The Olympic Games represented a major change for Barcelona. One of the buildings that heralded the city's entry into the contemporary era was the Palau Sant Jordi, a large, covered sports complex used for all kinds of sporting, recreational and cultural events. You can visit the Anella Olímpica free of charge and see the buildings from the outside.

Barcelona's Port Olímpic is situated between the Barceloneta and Vila Olímpica beaches at the foot of two iconic skyscrapers: the Mapfre Tower and the Hotel Arts. It was built in 1990 for the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games and, today, its marina is the perfect place for lovers of water sports, including sailing or any water-based activity.

The city's main cycle-racing track, the Velòdrom d'Horta, was built in 1984 as the host venue for the Track Cycling World Championships and was awarded the FAD Architecture Prize the same year.
