Parc Nacional d'Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici
The Parc Nacional de Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici stands in one of the most beautiful spots in the Pyrenees. It is part of the Network of Spanish National Parks and is the only one in Catalonia to have been awarded this status.
If you love nature and adventure or get a kick out of high-mountain landscapes, this national park is the place for you. Its valleys, surrounded by peaks standing more than 3,000 m high, are a wonderful showcase of all the characteristic elements of the high Pyrenees including their geological features and flora and fauna. Water is perhaps the key feature of the park, in the form of snow, rivers, waterfalls or as part of the lakes that are dotted around the area which number more than 200 and give this protected natural area its unique atmosphere.
